Sindh Apex Committee gathers to tackle foreign currency regularization

October 05, 2023 (MLN): The meeting of Special Provincial Apex Committee, Sindh is scheduled to be on Friday at 1400 hours to discuss the measures against Foreign Currency Regularization, according to the notification issued by Home Department, government of Sindh. 

This will include details of crackdown on illegal/ black currency market, incentive options to open foreign currency in Pakistan banks and administrative/ legal actions against currency holders.

The meeting will further discuss the progress on SIFC initiatives in Sindh particularly in the sectors of Information Technology, energy, mine and mineral.

Revised National Action Plan (NAP) that includes overall security situation/ threat spectrum in province and suggest response measures, security related policy issues and recommendations on security/ counter terrorism issues will also be discussed for consideration of federal government. 

In addition, the house will review the reinvigoration of Foreign Nationals Security in Sindh with focus on Chinese Nationals employed on CPEC/Non-CPEC/Private Projects.

The availability of Security enablers at Chinese work places/ residences in the light of SOP issued by Ministry of Interior and Track and Trace of loose Chinese Nationals and assistance required from Federal Government will also be discussed. 

The committee will also have a dialog on security measures for envisaged foreign nationals coming to Sindh in connection with Green Initiative. 

Furthermore, the house will be updated on repatriation of illegal foreigners including update on Proof of Registration (POR) card holders and Afghan Citizen Card (ACC), data of illegal Afghan nationals and issues related to repatriation of illegal Afghan nationals.

Moreover, Karachi Transformation Plan (KTP), Green Sindh Initiative and pending issues with federal government will also be a part of the meeting.
