April 05, 2024 (MLN): Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif has instructed the Ministry of Finance to present a compressive plan to increase revenue without burdening the common people, as reported by the Information Ministry.

"The federation would strengthen the provinces by transferring all relevant ministries and departments to them under the 18th Amendment," he added.

In order to minimize financial losses in the country, the PM emphasized to reduce expenditures.

Shehbaz Sharif also advised to expedite the process of reforms and privatization of state enterprises, particularly those that are burdened due to being loss-making.

According to him, public-private partnerships will be established for better services at all major airports in the country.

"The government is fully focused on gradually reducing public debt, pension and subsidy reforms as well as restructuring and privatization of the state-owned enterprises," he added.

Welcoming the completion of a standby programme with the International Monetary Fund (IMF), he said the government will work hard with the IMF for future programmes.
