Seventh Round of FTA talks with Turkey to be held on 6-7 June

The seventh round of talks on Free Trade Agreement between Pakistan and Turkey to be carried out on 6-7 June at Turkey in order to agree on terms and conditions in agreement. The officials have said that the countries will hold discussions on agreement over goods, services and investment.

The official said that before 2011, Pakistan’s trade deficit with Turkey was net positive but has been in negative ever since both the countries introduced additional duties on the trade.

However, after signing the FTA agreement both countries will get considerable gains and will improve their trade balance. The official said that the under the agreement, Turkey will have access to Pakistan’s agriculture and pharmaceutical sectors.

He said that Pakistan’s imports from trade includes; manmade textiles, towels, steel structure, tanning and plastic chemicals, processed milk and whey.

He said that Pakistan’s major exports to Turkey include; denim PET, ethanol, cotton yarn, fabric and rice, garments, leather, carpets, surgical instruments, sports goods and chemicals.
