SECP issues cybersecurity advisory amid rising threats

May 16, 2025 (MLN): The Securities and Exchange Commission of Pakistan (SECP) has issued an advisory to all companies in response to the recent geopolitical developments and the associated rise in cybersecurity threat alerts.

The advisory emphasizes the need for organizations to implement cybersecurity best practices, warning of the potential consequences of inaction, including operational disruptions, data breaches, and reputational damage.

To address these risks, SECP has recommended several measures such as enforcing stricter access controls, minimizing network vulnerabilities, preparing for potential security incidents, and promoting user awareness, as per the press release issued today.

The Commission has also urged companies to act swiftly in securing their data and network systems and reaffirmed its commitment to protecting Pakistan’s financial and information infrastructure.
