SBP allows alternatives to Khasra Girdawari for agri loans

November 15, 2024 (MLN): Considering the challenges faced by banks in obtaining Khasra Girdawari from borrowers for processing agriculture loan applications, the State Bank of Pakistan (SBP) now permits the use of a Digital Survey Report and Bonafide Certificate as alternative documents.

According to a notice issued by the central bank, the banks may now use any of these documents as an alternative to Khasra Girdawari to verify and monitor the farming activity.

These documents include:

Digital Survey Report: Based on digital geo-fencing or remote sensing through satellite images of the farm where the farmer plans to or is currently engaged in farming activities. Banks will establish formal arrangements with reputed agri-tech companies or institutions providing such services.
Bonafide Certificate: A document detailing the crops and cultivation activities, duly signed by the bank's designated staff (sample attached).
