December 05, 2022 (MLN): The government has somehow convinced Russia to provide oil, petrol, and diesel at discounted rates to Pakistan, The Minister of State Petroleum Musadik Masood Malik said during a media briefing on Monday.

Our visit to Russia was more successful than we expected, the Minister of Petroleum said.

He further added that the Russian Ministry of energy will visit Pakistan on January 2023.

To recall, on 25th November the National Assembly was informed that a high-power delegation will soon visit Russia to negotiate any possibility of long-term cooperation to acquire gas and oil in order to address the increasing energy crisis.

Earlier, Parliamentary Secretary for Petroleum Division Hamid Hameed said that Russia has not offered to supply gas to Pakistan yet.

The government of Pakistan has written a letter to Russian authorities on October 11, conveying interest to the Russian side to procure two to three cargoes of LNG for the month of December 2022 and January next year at a discounted price and deferred payment facility, he said.
