PSX roars as Trump pauses tariffs

April 10, 2025 (MLN): Syncing with a global market rally, the bulls came charged at the Pakistan Stock Exchange this morning, as the KSE-100 index skyrocketed by over 3,000 points right after the opening bell. 

The index touched a high of 117,484.16 (+3,331.01). 

This wave of positivity stemmed from U.S. President Donald Trump's decision to place a 90-day hold on his proposed tariff scheme for countries that have not retaliated against the United States amid ongoing trade tensions.

Top gainers are PGLC (+10.02%), SRVI (+10.00%), KEL (+8.08%), PAEL (+7.90%), and PSX (+6.88%).

On the other hand, top losers were INDU (-6.63%), PKGP (-3.55%), PAKT (-3.52%), JDWS (-1.77%), and HGFA (-0.84%).

In terms of index-point contributions, companies that propped up the index were UBL (+234.12pts), ENGROH (+211.33pts), OGDC (+188.05pts), LUCK (+167.35pts), and FFC (+156.80pts).

Meanwhile, companies that dragged the index lower were INDU (-61.13pts), BAHL (-29.87pts), THALL (-0.99pts), MEHT (+0.00pts), and JDWS (+0.00pts).

Sector-wise, KSE-100 Index was supported by Commercial Banks (+587.04pts), Oil & Gas Exploration Companies (+529.65pts), Cement (+376.51pts), Fertilizer (+240.21pts), and Inv. Banks / Inv. Cos. / Securities Cos. (+237.18pts).

While the index was let down by Automobile Assembler (-5.17pts), Automobile Parts & Accessories (-0.99pts), Close - End Mutual Fund (+0.00pts), Property (+0.00pts), and Sugar & Allied Industries (+0.00pts).
