August 15, 2024 (MLN): The benchmark KSE-100 Index concluded Thursday's trading session at 78,105.98, showing an increase of 228.57 points or 0.29%.

The index remained positive throughout the day showing an intraday high of 78,709.13 (+831.72) and a low of 77,987.82 (+110.41) points.

The total volume of the KSE-100 Index was 169.23 million shares.

Of the 100 index companies 55 closed up, 43 closed down, while 2 were unchanged.

Top gainers during the day were YOUW (+15.28%), JVDC (+10.00%), PTC (+9.97%), KTML (+5.33%), and HABSM (+5.30%).

On the other hand, top losers were PGLC (-4.04%), KAPCO (-3.16%), PIBTL (-2.91%), THALL (-2.53%), and LUCK (-2.34%).

In terms of index-point contributions, companies that propped up the index were FFC (+109.97pts), POL (+47.91pts), MCB (+44.96pts), SYS (+25.96pts), and MEBL (+23.98pts).

Meanwhile, companies that dragged the index lower were LUCK (-57.00pts), OGDC (-32.70pts), MTL (-27.84pts), BAHL (-15.38pts), and KAPCO (-13.82pts).

The major contributor to the index, FFC, rose after the company paid the declared Rs10 dividend to its shareholders.

Sector-wise, KSE-100 Index was supported by Fertilizer (+154.23pts), Commercial Banks (+45.55pts), Oil & Gas Exploration Companies (+38.09pts), Technology & Communication (+35.31pts), and Property (+18.23pts).

While the index was let down by Cement (-56.04pts), Automobile Assembler (-27.02pts), Automobile Parts & Accessories (-11.78pts), Chemical (-6.34pts), and Inv. Banks / Inv. Cos. / Securities Cos. (-4.91pts).

In the broader market, the All-Share Index closed at 50,243.25 with a net gain of 219.58 points or 0.44%.

Total market volume was 591.07 million shares compared to 604.14m from the previous session while traded value was recorded at Rs20.10 billion showing an increase of Rs0.12bn.

There were 269,554 trades reported in 441 companies with 226 closing up, 162 closing down, and 53 remaining unchanged.

To note, the KSE-100 has lost 339 points or 0.43% during the fiscal year, whereas the ongoing calendar year has witnessed a cumulative increase of 15,655 points, equivalent to 25.07%.
