May 07, 2025 (MLN): The benchmark KSE-100 Index concluded Wednesday's trading session at 110,009.02, showing a decrease of 3,559.48 points or 3.13%.

This panic selling occurred mainly due to the heightened tensions at the Pakistan-India border, with reports indicating that India had attacked Pakistani territory.

The index traded in a range of 5,449.69 points, showing an intraday high of 112,457.37 (-1,111.13) and a low of 107,007.68 (-6,560.82) points.

The total volume of the KSE-100 Index was 261.52 million shares.

Of the 100 index companies 5 closed up, 94 closed down, while 1 were unchanged.

Top losers during the day were PIBTL (-10.54%), AGL (-10.00%), PGLC (-9.78%), SEARL (-9.15%), and POML (-8.40%).

On the other hand, top gainers were PKGP (+2.48%), MUREB (+2.22%), NESTLE (+1.63%), UPFL (+1.08%), and HGFA (+0.86%).

In terms of index-point contributions, companies that dragged the index lower were LUCK (-269.36pts), HUBC (-200.69pts), UBL (-186.51pts), SYS (-156.65pts), and ENGROH (-153.79pts).

Meanwhile, companies that added points to the index were PKGP (+14.24pts), NESTLE (+8.63pts), MUREB (+6.43pts), UPFL (+2.50pts), and HGFA (+0.71pts).

Sector-wise, KSE-100 Index was let down by Commercial Banks (-703.77pts), Cement (-481.58pts), Oil & Gas Exploration Companies (-443.50pts), Technology & Communication (-314.79pts), and Power Generation & Distribution (-233.32pts).

While the index was supported by Close – End Mutual Fund (+0.71pts), Synthetic & Rayon (-0.01pts), Woollen (-0.27pts), Leasing Companies (-0.74pts), and Modarabas (-0.78pts).

In the broader market, the All-Share Index closed at 68,701.21 with a net loss of 2,168.80 points or 3.06%.

Total market volume was 550.08 million shares compared to 420.55m from the previous session while traded value was recorded at Rs30.12 billion showing an increase of Rs6.42bn.

There were 307,906 trades reported in 447 companies with 49 closing up, 356 closing down, and 42 remaining unchanged.

To note, the KSE-100 has gained 31,564 points or 40.24% during the fiscal year, whereas it has decreased 5,118 points or 4.45% so far this calendar year.
