September 09, 2024 (MLN): The benchmark KSE-100 Index concluded Monday's trading session at 78,615.00, showing a decrease of 282.72 points or 0.36%.

The index traded in a range of 668.59 points showing an intraday high of 79,214.27 (+316.55) and a low of 78,545.68 (-352.04) points.

The total volume of the KSE-100 Index was 90.27 million shares.

Of the 100 index companies 42 closed up, 53 closed down, while 5 were unchanged.

Top losers during the day were PGLC (-8.79%), MTL (-6.55%), HGFA (-2.62%), HBL (-2.40%), and KEL (-2.17%).

On the other hand, top gainers were SHFA (+8.13%), GLAXO (+6.65%), PIOC (+4.80%), YOUW (+4.26%), and BNWM (+3.80%).

In terms of index-point contributions, companies that dragged the index lower were MTL (-108.24pts), HUBC (-85.98pts), UBL (-77.27pts), HBL (-54.12pts), and MEBL (-28.07pts).

Meanwhile, companies that added points to the index were FFC (+57.57pts), LUCK (+30.62pts), PIOC (+25.46pts), GLAXO (+22.25pts), and SRVI (+19.96pts).

Sector-wise, KSE-100 Index was let down by Commercial Banks (-175.80pts), Automobile Assembler (-116.38pts), Power Generation & Distribution (-102.06pts), Inv. Banks / Inv. Cos. / Securities Cos. (-18.81pts), and Oil & Gas Marketing Companies (-16.39pts).

While the index was supported by Cement (+74.18pts), Pharmaceuticals (+35.72pts), Fertilizer (+25.04pts), Leather & Tanneries (+19.96pts), and Miscellaneous (+11.84pts).

In the broader market, the All-Share Index closed at 50,691.18 with a net loss of 123.65 points or 0.24%.

Total market volume was 491.12 million shares compared to 741.29m from the previous session while traded value was recorded at Rs10.12 billion showing a decrease of Rs2.75bn.

There were 213,886 trades reported in 443 companies with 155 closing up, 228 closing down, and 60 remaining unchanged.

To note, the KSE-100 has gained 170 points or 0.22% during the fiscal year, whereas the ongoing calendar year has witnessed a cumulative increase of 16,164 points, equivalent to 25.88%.
