August 02, 2024 (MLN): The benchmark KSE-100 Index concluded Friday's trading session at 78,225.98, showing an increase of 485.68 points or 0.62%.

The index remained positive throughout the day showing an intraday high of 78,434.16 (+693.86) and a low of 77,926.53 (+186.23) points.

The total volume of the KSE-100 Index was 203.30 million shares.

Of the 100 index companies 60 closed up, 29 closed down, 10 were unchanged, while 1 remained untraded.

Top gainers during the day were CNERGY (+15.94%), NRL (+10.00%), ATRL (+8.88%), NATF (+7.41%), and YOUW (+4.67%).

On the other hand, top losers were PSEL (-4.74%), JVDC (-4.20%), PIOC (-2.76%), DGKC (-1.55%), and KOHC (-1.42%).

In terms of index-point contributions, companies that propped up the index were HUBC (+79.45pts), HBL (+49.03pts), UBL (+47.28pts), OGDC (+41.05pts), and ATRL (+40.82pts).

Meanwhile, companies that dragged the index lower were BAHL (-28.81pts), PSEL (-25.99pts), DAWH (-20.37pts), MCB (-19.43pts), and MTL (-18.25pts).

Sector-wise, KSE-100 Index was supported by Power Generation & Distribution (+103.40pts), Oil & Gas Exploration Companies (+95.57pts), Refinery (+88.73pts), Commercial Banks (+64.63pts), and Food & Personal Care Products (+61.88pts).

While the index was let down by Miscellaneous (-30.86pts), Automobile Assembler (-24.15pts), Cement (-20.55pts), Inv. Banks / Inv. Cos. / Securities Cos. (-16.56pts), and Property (-7.05pts).

In the broader market, the All-Share Index closed at 49,751.28 with a net gain of 389.54 points or 0.79%.

Total market volume was 443.48 million shares compared to 278.99m from the previous session while traded value was recorded at Rs20.50 billion showing an increase of Rs7.40bn.

There were 224,833 trades reported in 439 companies with 235 closing up, 142 closing down, and 62 remaining unchanged.

To note, the KSE-100 has lost 219 points or 0.28% during the fiscal year, whereas the ongoing calendar year has witnessed a cumulative increase of 15,775 points, equivalent to 25.26%.
