January 01, 2025 (MLN): The benchmark KSE-100 Index concluded Wednesday's trading session at 117,008.08, showing an increase of 1,881.18 points or 1.63%.
The index traded in a range of 2,621.14 points showing an intraday high of 117,341.03 (+2,214.13) and a low of 114,719.89 (-407.01) points.
The total volume of the KSE-100 Index was 465.17 million shares.
Of the 100 index companies 68 closed up, 30 closed down, while 2 were unchanged.
Top gainers during the day were PSX (+10.02%), PGLC (+9.98%), ISL (+9.96%), MLCF (+9.56%), and HMB (+7.95%).
On the other hand, top losers were MEHT (-7.54%), PAKT (-4.11%), DAWH (-2.54%), SRVI (-2.46%), and CNERGY (-2.42%).
In terms of index-point contributions, companies that propped up the index were FFC (+353.36pts), LUCK (+248.31pts), HUBC (+128.32pts), HMB (+105.74pts), and MTL (+100.16pts).
Meanwhile, companies that dragged the index lower were DAWH (-71.95pts), MEHT (-36.82pts), SRVI (-26.66pts), ATRL (-23.38pts), and PAKT (-22.34pts).
Sector-wise, KSE-100 Index was supported by Cement (+520.53pts), Commercial Banks (+463.56pts), Fertilizer (+457.12pts), Power Generation & Distribution (+133.88pts), and Automobile Assembler (+124.59pts).
While the index was let down by Refinery (-38.37pts), Inv. Banks / Inv. Cos. / Securities Cos. (-28.63pts), Leather & Tanneries (-26.66pts), Tobacco (-22.34pts), and Textile Composite (-14.87pts).
In the broader market, the All-Share Index closed at 73,026.86 with a net gain of 856.20 points or 1.19%.
Total market volume was 956.27 million shares compared to 1,236.87m from the previous session while traded value was recorded at Rs46.44 billion showing an increase of Rs2.22bn.
There were 429,048 trades reported in 461 companies with 258 closing up, 160 closing down, and 43 remaining unchanged.
