PSX Closing Bell: Good to Be Alive

July 05, 2023 (MLN): The benchmark KSE-100 Index closed Wednesday's trading session at 43,552.83 showing a decrease of 4.18 points.

In the first few hours of the trading session, the KSE-100 Index gained more than 420 points or 1% before erasing all gains as continued profit-taking occurred.

The local bourse experienced a volatile trading session as the index traded in a range of 577.2 points showing an intraday high of 44,041.26 and a low of 43,464.06.

Total Volume of the KSE100 Index was 181.239 million shares.

Of the 100 index companies 41 closed up, 51 closed down, 2 were unchanged while 6 remained untraded.

KSE100 Index was let down by Fertilizer with 57.06, Oil & Gas Exploration Companies with 54.61, Automobile Assembler with 21.58, Cement with 15.4 and Insurance with 12.03 points.

Companies dragging the index lower were ENGRO with 26.19, OGDC with 24.25, EFERT with 21.75, MTL with 20.7 and BAHL with 16.01 points.

KSE100 index was supported by Technology & Communication with 75.61, Miscellaneous with 35.51, Power Generation & Distribution with 24.95, Refinery with 19.76 and Oil & Gas Marketing Companies with 10.95 points.

Companies adding points to the index were SYS with 64.37, PSEL with 26.72, HBL with 20.78, KAPCO with 20.09 and THALL with 10.39 points.

In the broader market, the All-Share index closed at 29,198.58 with a net loss of 28.82 points.

Total market volume was 351.182 million shares compared to 419.302 from the previous session while traded value being recorded at 11.94 billion showing a decrease of Rs.3.9 billion.

There were 155,256 trades reported in 325 companies with 145 closing up, 156 closing down and 24 remaining unchanged.
