January 24, 2025 (MLN): The benchmark KSE-100 Index concluded Friday's trading session at 114,880.48, showing an increase of 842.69 points or 0.74%.
The index remained positive throughout the day showing an intraday high of 115,779.05 (+1,741.26) and a low of 114,383.16 (+345.37) points.
The total volume of the KSE-100 Index was 280.35 million shares.
Of the 100 index companies 53 closed up, 45 closed down, while 2 were unchanged.
Top gainers during the day were EFUG (+5.96%), POML (+5.08%), SNGP (+4.90%), SEARL (+4.68%), and PGLC (+4.03%).
On the other hand, top losers were PIBTL (-3.57%), CNERGY (-2.77%), AGP (-2.39%), PIOC (-2.01%), and YOUW (-1.97%).
In terms of index-point contributions, companies that propped up the index were FFC (+396.09pts), ENGROH (+115.24pts), SYS (+86.49pts), EFERT (+75.97pts), and HBL (+54.40pts).
Meanwhile, companies that dragged the index lower were MARI (-82.98pts), OGDC (-30.95pts), PPL (-19.28pts), FCCL (-16.42pts), and BAHL (-16.39pts).
Sector-wise, KSE-100 Index was supported by Fertilizer (+472.98pts), Commercial Banks (+198.77pts), Technology & Communication (+125.38pts), Inv. Banks / Inv. Cos. / Securities Cos. (+118.83pts), and Oil & Gas Marketing Companies (+44.04pts).
While the index was let down by Oil & Gas Exploration Companies (-142.01pts), Cement (-65.16pts), Transport (-7.82pts), Glass & Ceramics (-4.89pts), and Property (-4.64pts).
In the broader market, the All-Share Index closed at 70,922.95 with a net gain of 247.40 points or 0.35%.
Total market volume was 632.03 million shares compared to 675.54m from the previous session while traded value was recorded at Rs37.80 billion showing an increase of Rs7.33bn.
There were 343,319 trades reported in 443 companies with 225 closing up, 166 closing down, and 52 remaining unchanged.
