April 09, 2024 (MLN): The benchmark KSE-100 index surged another 694.73 points or 1% to close last trading session before Eid holidays at a record high of 70,314.72.

The index remained positive throughout the day, showing an intraday high of 70,677.30 (+1,057.31) and a low of 69,857.15 (+237.16) points.

The total volume of the KSE-100 index was 219.291 million shares.

Of the 100 index companies 60 closed up, 33 closed down, 2 were unchanged, while 5 remained untraded.

KSE-100 index was supported by Fertilizer with 253.76, Commercial Banks with 163.18, Oil & Gas Exploration Companies with 64.46, Oil & Gas Marketing Companies with 58.19, and Power Generation & Distribution with 52.21 points.

On the contrary, the index was let down by Technology & Communication with 26.43, Miscellaneous with 4.06, Cable & Electrical Goods with 3.6, Food & Personal Care Products with 2.13, and Refinery with 2 points.

Companies adding points to the index were FFC with 217.08, MEBL with 78.33, HUBC with 57.63, EFERT with 51.15, and MARI with 46.46 points.

Meanwhile, companies that dragged the index lower were ENGRO with 41.16, MCB with 28.19, SYS with 23.81, BAFL with 23.46 and TRG with 11.9 points.

In the broader market, the All-Share index closed at 46,041.99 with a net gain of 344.80 points.

Total market volume was 389.397 million shares compared to 335.825 from the previous session while traded value was recorded at Rs17.27 billion showing an increase of Rs1.96bn.

There were 184,126 trades reported in 351 companies with 180 closing up, 156 closing down and 15 remaining unchanged.

To note, the KSE-100 has gained 28,862 points or 69.63% during the fiscal year, whereas the ongoing calendar year has witnessed a cumulative increase of 7,864 points, equivalent to 12.59%.
