August 20, 2024 (MLN): The benchmark KSE-100 Index concluded Tuesday's trading session at 77,745.52, showing a decrease of 84.82 points or 0.11%.
The index traded in a range of 469.64 points showing an intraday high of 77,930.03 (+99.69) and a low of 77,460.39 (-369.95) points.
The total volume of the KSE-100 Index was 114.23 million shares.
Of the 100 index companies 48 closed up, 47 closed down, while 5 were unchanged.
Top losers during the day were KTML (-5.30%), CEPB (-4.46%), ISL (-4.08%), JVDC (-2.88%), and GHGL (-2.71%).
On the other hand, top gainers were YOUW (+9.68%), NBP (+7.07%), PTC (+5.02%), PGLC (+4.78%), and POML (+3.61%).
In terms of index-point contributions, companies that dragged the index lower were BAHL (-49.56pts), FFC (-46.14pts), HUBC (-41.11pts), MCB (-24.56pts), and SYS (-23.72pts).
Meanwhile, companies that added points to the index were UBL (+86.22pts), NBP (+50.37pts), MTL (+29.65pts), OGDC (+21.07pts), and HMB (+18.26pts).
Sector-wise, KSE-100 Index was let down by Fertilizer (-66.19pts), Power Generation & Distribution (-43.18pts), Cement (-27.25pts), Engineering (-18.06pts), and Technology & Communication (-16.53pts).
While the index was supported by Commercial Banks (+74.61pts), Automobile Assembler (+40.20pts), Miscellaneous (+13.22pts), Pharmaceuticals (+8.91pts), and Automobile Parts & Accessories (+4.00pts).
In the broader market, the All-Share Index closed at 49,921.78 with a net loss of 51.96 points or 0.10%.
Total market volume was 380.72 million shares compared to 471.75m from the previous session while traded value was recorded at Rs11.24 billion showing a decrease of Rs5.68bn.
There were 192,045 trades reported in 446 companies with 196 closing up, 183 closing down, and 67 remaining unchanged.
