January 23, 2025 (MLN): The benchmark KSE-100 Index concluded Thursday's trading session at 114,037.79, showing an increase of 594.36 points or 0.52%.
The index traded in a range of 1,085.31 points showing an intraday high of 114,319.62 (+876.19) and a low of 113,234.31 (-209.12) points.
The total volume of the KSE-100 Index was 374.09 million shares.
Of the 100 index companies 58 closed up, 40 closed down, while 2 were unchanged.
Top gainers during the day were CNERGY (+7.75%), FCCL (+5.37%), MLCF (+4.87%), SEARL (+4.20%), and AGP (+3.98%).
On the other hand, top losers were POML (-7.54%), EFUG (-3.98%), PGLC (-3.32%), NRL (-3.16%), and BNWM (-1.57%).
In terms of index-point contributions, companies that propped up the index were ENGROH (+99.00pts), PSO (+82.52pts), FCCL (+57.61pts), SEARL (+35.73pts), and MLCF (+33.77pts).
Meanwhile, companies that dragged the index lower were UBL (-66.03pts), FFC (-22.97pts), MEBL (-11.35pts), HBL (-11.03pts), and HMB (-10.39pts).
Sector-wise, KSE-100 Index was supported by Cement (+173.68pts), Inv. Banks / Inv. Cos. / Securities Cos. (+103.83pts), Pharmaceuticals (+99.83pts), Oil & Gas Marketing Companies (+93.15pts), and Automobile Assembler (+35.38pts).
While the index was let down by Commercial Banks (-31.56pts), Fertilizer (-23.79pts), Miscellaneous (-5.92pts), Insurance (-5.45pts), and Engineering (-3.48pts).
In the broader market, the All-Share Index closed at 70,675.55 with a net gain of 328.75 points or 0.47%.
Total market volume was 675.54 million shares compared to 743.63m from the previous session while traded value was recorded at Rs30.47 billion showing a decrease of Rs4.78bn.
There were 306,492 trades reported in 442 companies with 213 closing up, 181 closing down, and 48 remaining unchanged.
