PSX Closing Bell: Because Green Days are Rare

April 09, 2025 (MLN): The benchmark KSE-100 Index concluded Wednesday's trading session at 114,153.15, showing a decrease of 1,379.28 points or 1.19%.

The index traded in a range of 2,200.64 points showing an intraday high of 115,092.12 (-440.31) and a low of 112,891.48 (-2,640.95) points.

The total volume of the KSE-100 Index was 267.60 million shares.

Of the 100 index companies 22 closed up, 75 closed down, while 3 were unchanged.

Top losers during the day were SRVI (-6.07%), AIRLINK (-4.24%), AGL (-4.19%), HUMNL (-3.77%), and PKGP (-3.55%).

On the other hand, top gainers were PGLC (+10.00%), ILP (+2.93%), FCEPL (+2.42%), THALL (+2.42%), and MEHT (+2.23%).

In terms of index-point contributions, companies that dragged the index lower were UBL (-150.45pts), ENGROH (-144.06pts), OGDC (-135.06pts), PPL (-119.69pts), and SYS (-90.10pts).

Meanwhile, companies that added points to the index were MARI (+37.64pts), ILP (+14.93pts), THALL (+12.44pts), SAZEW (+10.28pts), and TPLRF1 (+8.23pts).

Sector-wise, KSE-100 Index was let down by Commercial Banks (-289.39pts), Oil & Gas Exploration Companies (-241.96pts), Technology & Communication (-139.20pts), Inv. Banks / Inv. Cos. / Securities Cos. (-137.26pts), and Fertilizer (-114.85pts).

While the index was supported by Textile Composite (+25.23pts), Automobile Parts & Accessories (+12.44pts), Real Estate Investment Trust (+2.38pts), Modarabas (+1.15pts), and Leasing Companies (+0.48pts).

In the broader market, the All-Share Index closed at 71,393.84 with a net loss of 745.63 points or 1.03%.

Total market volume was 448.69 million shares compared to 530.69m from the previous session while traded value was recorded at Rs26.59 billion showing a decrease of Rs7.09bn.

There were 281,460 trades reported in 450 companies with 118 closing up, 281 closing down, and 51 remaining unchanged.

To note, the KSE-100 has gained 35,708 points or 45.52% during the fiscal year, whereas it has decreased 974 points or 0.85% so far this calendar year.
