PSX Closing Bell: A Turtle's Pace

September 06, 2024 (MLN): The benchmark KSE-100 Index concluded Friday's trading session almost flat at 78,897.72, showing a marginal increase of 34.38 points or 0.04%.
The index remained positive throughout the day showing an intraday high of 79,254.25 (+390.91) and a low of 78,917.29 (+53.95) points.
The total volume of the KSE-100 Index was 141.87 million shares.
Of the 100 index companies 44 closed up, 52 closed down, while 4 were unchanged.
Top gainers during the day were KOHC (+10.00%), PGLC (+6.50%), PAEL (+5.81%), SHFA (+5.16%), and GADT (+3.45%).
On the other hand, top losers were NATF (-5.66%), YOUW (-3.49%), MUGHAL (-3.48%), FABL (-3.22%), and HMB (-2.23%).
In terms of index-point contributions, companies that propped up the index were KOHC (+54.57pts), MARI (+35.35pts), BAFL (+28.05pts), MCB (+25.06pts), and NBP (+24.87pts).
Meanwhile, companies that dragged the index lower were MEBL (-32.09pts), FFC (-29.45pts), NATF (-23.48pts), HMB (-23.18pts), and ENGRO (-20.52pts).
Sector-wise, KSE-100 Index was supported by Cement (+49.10pts), Commercial Banks (+30.40pts), Cable & Electrical Goods (+19.53pts), Automobile Assembler (+11.13pts), and Pharmaceuticals (+7.93pts).
While the index was let down by Fertilizer (-41.93pts), Technology & Communication (-18.53pts), Food & Personal Care Products (-15.87pts), Engineering (-10.00pts), and Textile Composite (-5.36pts).
In the broader market, the All-Share Index closed at 50,814.83 with a net gain of 71.83 points or 0.14%.
Total market volume was 741.29 million shares compared to 770.52m from the previous session while traded value was recorded at Rs12.88 billion showing a decrease of Rs1.41bn.
There were 236,583 trades reported in 444 companies with 185 closing up, 201 closing down, and 58 remaining unchanged.

To note, the KSE-100 has gained 453 points or 0.58% during the fiscal year, whereas the ongoing calendar year has witnessed a cumulative increase of 16,447 points, equivalent to 26.34%.
