PSX Closing Bell: A Thousand Points of Light

March 12, 2021 (MLN): Following four consecutive negative sessions, the bourse took on a bullish course in today’s session, leading the KSE-100 benchmark index with 1,008 points gain to close at 43,788 level, up by 2.36% from the yesterday’s close.

The Index remained positive throughout the session touching an intraday high of 43,985.23

According to Arif Habib Limited, the excitement of senate elections had bearing on the stock market, where a win on Government’s part was considered to be a source of confidence for the Investors.

Of the 96 traded companies in the KSE100 Index 83 closed up 10 closed down, while 3 remained unchanged. Total volume traded for the index was 169.80 million shares.

Sectors propping up the index were Cement with 223 points, Commercial Banks with 151 points, Oil & Gas Exploration Companies with 90 points, Power Generation & Distribution with 83 points and Oil & Gas Marketing Companies with 70 points.

The most points added to the index was by LUCK which contributed 76 points followed by HUBC with 61 points, HBL with 46 points, PSO with 43 points and SYS with 43 points.

Sector wise, the index was let down by Miscellaneous with 2 points and Synthetic & Rayon with 1 points.

The most points taken off the index was by ANL which stripped the index of 8 points followed by ENGRO with 6 points, TRG with 4 points, ABOT with 2 points and SHFA with 2 points.

All Share Volume increased by 36.46 Million to 442.56 Million Shares. Market Cap increased by Rs.145.38 Billion.

Total companies traded were 412 compared to 408 from the previous session. Of the scrips traded 321 closed up, 74 closed down while 17 remained unchanged.

Total trades increased by 157,054 to 157,054.

Value Traded increased by 3.87 Billion to Rs.21.59 Billion
