PSO working closely with Ministry to meet K-Electric’s demand for furnace oil

June 26, 2020 (MLN): Pakistan State Oil recently has recently released a statement of facts pertaining to power supply in Karachi, saying that it has provided more than 61,400 Metric Tons of furnace oil to K-Electric and its IPPs till June 24, 2020, which is also being augmented with a daily supply of gas.

‘As per the Fuel Supply Agreement, K-Electric has to intimate PSO about its demand a month in advance. Despite the same, the demand for June 2020 was increased by K-Electric on May 15, 2020. This was coupled with a decrease in availability and supply of furnace oil from refineries’, the statement added.

‘Due to the increase in demand, the Ministry of Energy is making efforts to get necessary permission to import furnace oil. PSO is working closely with the Ministry and refineries to meet the additional demand for K-Electric’, it said further.
