Private Sector borrows Rs.554 billion in current fiscal year

March 18, 2019 (MLN): Non-government sector has borrowed a sum of Rs.839.57 billion as of March 8, 2019, during the current fiscal year.

According to the State Bank of Pakistan (SBP)’s weekly report on loans, credit to the private sector during this period has reached Rs.554.2 billion which is 68.8% higher than last year’s advances worth Rs.328.3 billion.

Within the private sector, credit to conventional banking branches was Rs.367.5 billion, credit to Islamic Banks was Rs.89 billion while credit to Islamic Branches of conventional banks was Rs.97.5 billion.

On the other hand, credit to Public Sector Enterprises (PSE’s) during the period stands at Rs.283.6 billion, greater by twice the credit to PSE’s recorded last year.
