PMEX trading activity dips by 3.53% on Monday

Trading activity on PMEX slips 25% DoD

April 02, 2024 (MLN): The trading activity at the Pakistan Mercantile Exchange (PMEX) dropped on Monday as the total traded value of transactions stood at  Rs29.4 billion, marking a 3.53% decrease from the previous session's close of Rs30.48bn.

With a slight decrease in the number of lots traded, 24,761 lots changed hands, down from the previous close of 25,274.

Despite this, the exchange saw a slight uptick in closing figures, ending at 10,297, up by 0.74% compared to the previous close.

Gold remained in the limelight, contributing significantly to the trading volume with transactions worth Rs16.96 billion. Following closely behind, the NSDQ 100 recorded trading valued at Rs2.87bn.

Currencies through COTS also made a prominent spot, clocking in at Rs2.14bn. In addition, Platinum, Crude Oil, and Silver attracted substantial attention from investors as well and their transactions stood at Rs1.5bn, Rs1.96bn, and Rs2.22bn, respectively.

Moreover, transactions of Natural Gas transactions reached Rs215 million, DJ at Rs500.6m, Copper at Rs172.17m, SP 500 at Rs599.94m, Japan Equity at Rs78.16m, and Brent at Rs64.29m.

In the agricultural commodities segment, Cotton saw active trading, with 24 lots amounting to Rs30.77m changing hands.
