PKR weakens by 4 paisa against USD

March 21, 2025 (MLN): The Pakistani rupee (PKR) decreased by 3.55 paisa or 0.01% against the US dollar in Friday's interbank session to settle the trade at PKR 280.26 per USD, compared to the previous closing of 280.23.

Throughout the day, the currency saw an intraday high (bid) of 280.40 and a low (ask) of 280.20.

In the open market, exchange companies quoted the dollar at 280 for buying and 282.10 for selling.

In comparison to major currencies, PKR rose 1.21 rupees or 0.40% against the Euro, closing at 303.68 compared to the previous value of 304.88.

Against the British Pound, PKR strengthened by 89.29 paisa or 0.25% to 362.62 compared to 363.51 a day ago.

The local unit increased 2.17 rupees or 0.68% against Swiss franc to close at 317.27.

Against the Japanese Yen, PKR's value gained 0.86 paisa or 0.46% to close the session at 1.8774 versus 1.8860 a day ago.

Pakistani Rupee increased 4.45 paisa or 0.11% against Chinese Yuan to close at 38.67 from 38.71.

The local currency weakened by 0.75 paisa or 0.01% against Saudi Riyal to 74.72. While it decreased by 1.07 paisa or 0.01% against the U.A.E Dirham to close at 76.30.

During the current fiscal year, PKR has weakened against the US Dollar by 1.92 rupees or 0.68%. While it has deteriorated 1.71 rupees or 0.61% so far this calendar year.

In the Money Market, the benchmark 6 Month Karachi Interbank Bid and Offer rates inched down by 1bps to 11.76% and 12.01%.
