PKR rises by 9 paisa against USD

February 04, 2025 (MLN): The Pakistani rupee (PKR) strengthened by 8.83 paisa or 0.03% against the US dollar in Tuesday's interbank session to settle the trade at PKR 278.96 per USD, compared to previous closing of 279.04.

Throughout the day, the currency saw an intraday high (bid) of 279.10 and a low (ask) of 278.95.

In the open market, exchange companies quoted the dollar at 279.00 for buying and 281.10 for selling.

In comparison to major currencies, PKR weakened 2.98 rupees or 1.04% against the Euro, closing at 288.02 compared to the previous value of 285.04.

Against the British Pound, PKR decreased by 3.55 rupees or 1.03% to 346.31 compared to 342.76 a day ago.

The local unit weakened 2.94 rupees or 0.97% against Swiss franc to close at 306.43.

Against the Japanese Yen, PKR's value fell 0.47 paisa or 0.26% to close the session at 1.7976 versus 1.7929 a day ago.

Pakistani Rupee gained 1.22 paisa or 0.03% against Chinese Yuan to close at 38.47 from 38.48.

The local currency strengthened by 2.55 paisa or 0.03% against Saudi Riyal to 74.37. While it strengthened by 2.40 paisa or 0.03% against the U.A.E Dirham to close at 75.95.

During the current fiscal year, PKR has fell against the US Dollar by 61.49 paisa or 0.22%. While it has fell 40.61 paisa or 0.15% so far this calendar year.

In the Money Market, the benchmark 6 Month Karachi Interbank Bid and Offer rates inched up by 2bps to 11.50% and 11.75%.
