PKR loses 3 paisa against USD

January 24, 2025 (MLN): The Pakistani rupee (PKR) decreased by 2.94 paisa or 0.01% against the US dollar in Friday's interbank session to settle the trade at PKR 278.75 per USD, compared to previous closing of 278.72.

Throughout the day, the currency saw an intraday high (bid) of 278.95 and a low (ask) of 278.75.

In the open market, exchange companies quoted the dollar at 279.5 for buying and 281.3 for selling.

In comparison to major currencies, PKR deteriorated 1.90 rupees or 0.66% against the Euro, closing at 291.62 compared to the previous value of 289.72.

Against the British Pound, PKR decreased by 2.52 rupees or 0.73% to 345.29 compared to 342.77 a day ago.

The local unit depreciated 74.52 paisa or 0.24% against Swiss franc to close at 307.95.

Against the Japanese Yen, PKR's value decreased 1.43 paisa or 0.80% to close the session at 1.7938 versus 1.7795 a day ago.

Pakistani Rupee deteriorated by 19.13 paisa or 0.50% against the Chinese Yuan to close at 38.45 from 38.25.

The local currency weakened by 1.18 paisa or 0.02% against Saudi Riyal to 74.31. While it weakened by 1.01 paisa or 0.01% against the U.A.E Dirham to close at 75.89.

During the current fiscal year, PKR fell against the US Dollar by 41.10 paisa or 0.15%. While it has decreased by 20.22 paisa or 0.07% so far this calendar year.

In the Money Market, the benchmark 6-month Karachi Interbank Bid and Offer rates remained unchanged at 11.41% and 11.66%.
