PKR loses 10 paisa against USD

May 07, 2025 (MLN): The Pakistani rupee (PKR) decreased by 9.87 paisa or 0.04% against the US dollar in Wednesday's interbank session to settle the trade at PKR 281.47 per USD, compared to previous closing of 281.37.

Throughout the day, the currency saw an intraday high (bid) of 281.45 and a low (ask) of 281.40.

In the open market, exchange companies quoted the dollar at 281.20 for buying and 283.15 for selling.

In comparison to major currencies, PKR decreased 81.55 paisa or 0.26% against the Euro, closing at 319.82 compared to the previous value of 319.01.

Against the British Pound, PKR fell by 1.03 rupees or 0.28% to 375.79 compared to 374.76 a day ago.

The local unit gained 37.67 paisa or 0.11% against Swiss franc to close at 340.97.

Against the Japanese Yen, PKR's value decreased 0.22 paisa or 0.11% to close the session at 1.9652 versus 1.9630 a day ago.

Pakistani Rupee gained 5.46 paisa or 0.14% against Chinese Yuan to close at 38.94 from 39.00.

The local currency deteriorated by 2.23 paisa or 0.03% against Saudi Riyal to 75.04. While it decreased by 2.47 paisa or 0.03% against the U.A.E Dirham to close at 76.63.

During the current fiscal year, PKR has deteriorated against the US Dollar by 3.13 rupees or 1.11%. While it has depreciated 2.92 rupees or 1.04% so far this calendar year.

In the Money Market, the benchmark 6 Month Karachi Interbank Bid and Offer rates inched down by 2bps to 11.17% and 11.42%.
