PKR gains over 7 paisa against USD

December 02, 2024 (MLN): The Pakistani rupee (PKR) increased by 7.65 paisa or 0.03% against the US dollar in Monday's interbank session to settle the trade at PKR 277.97 per USD, compared to previous closing of 278.05.

Throughout the day, the currency saw an intraday high (bid) of 278.00 and a low (ask) of 277.90.

In the open market, exchange companies quoted the dollar at 277.3 for buying and 279 for selling.

In comparison to major currencies, PKR rose 2.00 rupees or 0.68% against the Euro, closing at 292.00 compared to the previous value of 294.00.

Against the British Pound, PKR rose by 79.22 paisa or 0.22% to 352.71 compared to 353.50 a day ago.

The local unit appreciated 1.21 rupees or 0.38% against Swiss franc to close at 314.24.

Against the Japanese Yen, PKR's value appreciated 0.19 paisa or 0.10% to close the session at 1.8506 versus 1.8525 a day ago.

Pakistani Rupee gained 23.13 paisa or 0.60% against Chinese Yuan to close at 38.22 from 38.46.

The local currency increased by 2.53 paisa or 0.03% against Saudi Riyal to 73.99. While it gained by 1.88 paisa or 0.02% against the U.A.E Dirham to close at 75.68.

During the current fiscal year, PKR has appreciated against the US Dollar by 36.77 paisa or 0.13%. While it has increased 3.89 rupees or 1.40% so far this calendar year.

In the Money Market, the benchmark 6 Month Karachi Interbank Bid and Offer rates fell by 8bps to 12.34% and 12.59%.
