July 05, 2024 (MLN): The Pakistani rupee (PKR) appreciated by 12.23 paisa against the US dollar in Friday's interbank session as the currency settled the trade at PKR 278.38 per USD, compared to the previous session's closing of PKR 278.5 per USD.
The currency saw an intraday high (bid) of 278.8 and a low (ask) of 278.6.
In the open market, exchange companies quoted the dollar at 277.75 for buying and 280.23 for selling.
In comparison to major currencies, PKR lost 60.56 paisa against the Euro, closing at 301.44 compared to the previous value of 300.83.
The British Pound became expensive by 51.22 paisa closing at 355.72 compared to 355.21 from a day ago.
The Swiss franc saw gains of 98.21 paisa, closing at 309.96 compared to 308.98 from the previous session.
Against the Japanese Yen, PKR lost 0.43 paisa, closing at 1.7315 versus 1.7272 a day ago.
The Chinese Yuan lost 0.05 paisa, closing at 38.31 against 38.31 from the previous session.
The Saudi Riyal closed at 74.21 with a loss of 2.86 paisa from its value of 74.24 a day ago.
The U.A.E Dirham decreased in value by 3.53 paisa from 75.79 a day ago to 75.82.
During the current financial year, PKR has depreciated against the Dollar by 3.38 paisa or 0.01%. While the current calendar year has seen PKR appreciate by 3.49 rupees or 1.25%.
In the Money Market, the benchmark 6 Month Karachi Interbank Bid and Offer rates inched down by 1 bps to 19.84% and 20.09%.
