PKR falls 9 paisa against USD

January 28, 2025 (MLN): The Pakistani rupee (PKR) depreciated by 9.25 paisa or 0.03% against the US dollar in Tuesday's interbank session to settle the trade at PKR 278.93 per USD, compared to previous closing of 278.83.

Throughout the day, the currency saw an intraday high (bid) of 278.95 and a low (ask) of 278.90.

In the open market, exchange companies quoted the dollar at 279 for buying and 281 for selling.

In comparison to major currencies, PKR strengthened 68.43 paisa or 0.23% against the Euro, closing at 291.03 compared to the previous value of 291.71.

Against the British Pound, PKR decreased by 22.65 paisa or 0.07% to 347.02 compared to 346.80 a day ago.

The local unit decreased 27.18 paisa or 0.09% against Swiss franc to close at 307.86.

Against the Japanese Yen, PKR's value deteriorated 0.35 paisa or 0.20% to close the session at 1.7922 versus 1.7887 a day ago.

Pakistani Rupee depreciated 8.21 paisa or 0.21% against Chinese Yuan to close at 38.47 from 38.38.

The local currency weakened by 2.96 paisa or 0.04% against Saudi Riyal to 74.36. While it fell by 2.52 paisa or 0.03% against the U.A.E Dirham to close at 75.94.

During the current fiscal year, PKR has decreased against the US Dollar by 58.38 paisa or 0.21%. While it has decreased 37.50 paisa or 0.13% so far this calendar year.

In the Money Market, the benchmark 6 Month Karachi Interbank Bid and Offer rates increased by 5bps to 11.44% and 11.69%.
