PKR falls 4 paisa against USD

May 08, 2025 (MLN): The Pakistani rupee (PKR) deteriorated by 4.33 paisa or 0.02% against the US dollar in Thursday's interbank session to settle the trade at PKR 281.52 per USD, compared to the previous closing of 281.47.

Throughout the day, the currency saw an intraday high (bid) of 281.55 and a low (ask) of 281.50.

In the open market, exchange companies quoted the dollar at 281.5 for buying and 283.15 for selling.

In comparison to major currencies, PKR strengthened 1.79 rupees or 0.56% against the Euro, closing at 318.03 compared to the previous value of 319.82.

Against the British Pound, PKR gained by 1.67 rupees or 0.45% to 374.12 compared to 375.79 a day ago.

The local unit appreciated 66.90 paisa or 0.20% against Swiss franc to close at 340.30.

Against the Japanese Yen, PKR's value increased 1.43 paisa or 0.73% to close the session at 1.9509 versus 1.9652 a day ago.

Pakistani Rupee appreciated 3.66 paisa or 0.09% against Chinese Yuan to close at 38.91 from 38.94.

The local currency decreased by 1.56 paisa or 0.02% against Saudi Riyal to 75.05. While it depreciated by 1.29 paisa or 0.02% against the U.A.E Dirham to close at 76.64.

During the current fiscal year, PKR has fell against the US Dollar by 3.17 rupees or 1.13%. While it has fell 2.97 rupees or 1.05% so far this calendar year.

In the Money Market, the benchmark 6 Month Karachi Interbank Bid and Offer rates unchanged by 0bps to 11.17% and 11.42%.
