PKR falls 15 paisa per USD

May 06, 2025 (MLN): The Pakistani rupee (PKR) depreciated by 15 paisa or 0.05% against the US dollar in Tuesday's interbank session to settle the trade at PKR 281.37 per USD, compared to the previous closing of 281.22.

Throughout the day, the currency saw an intraday high (bid) of 281.35 and a low (ask) of 281.25.

In the open market, exchange companies quoted the dollar at 281.50 for buying and 283.15 for selling.

In comparison to major currencies, PKR weakened 80.29 paisa or 0.25% against the Euro, closing at 319.01 compared to the previous value of 318.20.

Against the British Pound, PKR depreciated by 1.21 rupees or 0.32% to 374.76 compared to 373.55 a day ago.

The local unit decreased 1.13 rupees or 0.33% against Swiss franc to close at 341.35.

Against the Japanese Yen, PKR's value fell 1.47 paisa or 0.75% to close the session at 1.9630 versus 1.9483 a day ago.

Pakistani Rupee decreased 32.23 paisa or 0.83% against Chinese Yuan to close at 39.00 from 38.68.

The local currency decreased by 2.60 paisa or 0.03% against Saudi Riyal to 75.02. While it deteriorated by 4.30 paisa or 0.06% against the U.A.E Dirham to close at 76.61.

During the current fiscal year, PKR has depreciated against the US Dollar by 3.03 rupees or 1.08%. While it has depreciated 2.82 rupees or 1.00% so far this calendar year.

In the Money Market, the benchmark 6 Month Karachi Interbank Bid and Offer rates fell by 64bps to 11.19% and 11.44%.
