PKR decreases by 5 paisa against USD

May 16, 2025 (MLN): The Pakistani rupee (PKR) fell by 5.03 paisa or 0.02% against the US dollar in Friday's interbank session to settle the trade at PKR 281.66 per USD, compared to previous closing of 281.61.

Throughout the day, the currency saw an intraday high (bid) of 281.80 and a low (ask) of 281.65.

In the open market, exchange companies quoted the dollar at 282.50 for buying and 283.75 for selling.

In comparison to major currencies, PKR decreased 38.02 paisa or 0.12% against the Euro, closing at 315.73 compared to the previous value of 315.35.

Against the British Pound, PKR deteriorated by 1.39 rupees or 0.37% to 375.05 compared to 373.66 a day ago.

The local unit fell 2.08 rupees or 0.62% against Swiss franc to close at 338.15.

Against the Japanese Yen, PKR's value decreased 0.97 paisa or 0.50% to close the session at 1.9400 versus 1.9303 a day ago.

Pakistani Rupee deteriorated 5.49 paisa or 0.14% against Chinese Yuan to close at 39.11 from 39.06.

The local currency weakened by 1.34 paisa or 0.02% against Saudi Riyal to 75.09. While it deteriorated by 1.37 paisa or 0.02% against the U.A.E Dirham to close at 76.69.

During the current fiscal year, PKR has deteriorated against the US Dollar by 3.32 rupees or 1.18%. While it has decreased 3.11 rupees or 1.11% so far this calendar year.

In the Money Market, the benchmark 6 Month Karachi Interbank Bid and Offer rates unchanged by 0bps to 11.16% and 11.41%.
