Pakistan’s weight in MSCI FM100 Index increases by 34bps to 2.93%

August 25, 2023 (MLN): Pakistan’s weight in Morgan Stanley Capital International (MSCI) FM100 Index will be increased by 34bps to 2.93% from 2.59%, MSCI August quarterly review revealed on Friday which will be effective as of the close of 31 August 2023.

Accordingly, the MSCI FM100 Index will undergo 12 changes, with 9 stocks being added and 3 stocks being removed. The only Pakistani stock among the additions is OGDC, which will have a weight of 0.309% in the index.

Notably, no Pakistani stocks are among the deletions.

The weight of five out of the remaining eight Pakistani stocks (ENGRO, HBL, HUBC, LUCK, and SYS) will increase slightly by an average of 4-5bps.

However, UBL and MCB will see a significant drop in their weight by 43% and 23% respectively, resulting in 0.194% and 0.264% of the total weight, due to the change in Foreign Inclusion Factor (FIF).
