Pakistan's weekly SPI rises by 3.65% over the week

October 12, 2018 (MLN): Weekly SPI for the combined group has increased by 3.65% over the previous week (ended October 4, 2018) and by 6.52% over the corresponding period of last year (October 12, 2017), divulged the latest data released by Pakistan Bureau of Statistics (PBS).

According to the report, of the 53 monitored items, the average prices of 19 items recorded an increase, 5 items recorded a decrease while average prices of the remaining 29 items stayed the same.

SPI for the highest income group (above Rs.35000) recorded a rise of 5.98% over the index published last week, and 9.91% over the index published last year (October 12, 2017). This remains the largest increase amongst all income groups.

On the other hand, SPI for the lowest income group (up to Rs.8000) witnessed an increase of 0.7% over the previous week and 2.1% over the previous year, which are the smallest increases among the lot.
