Pakistan's OMCs sales surge 8% MoM in January, reaching 1.4mn tons

February 04, 2025 (MLN): The sales volume of oil marketing companies (OMCs) in Pakistan increased by 8% month-on-month (MoM) in January 2025, reaching a total of 1.4 million tons, while the year-on-year (YoY) change remained flat.

For the 7MFY25, OMC sales totaled 9.41mn tons, marking a 4% YoY increase.

Product-wise Performance

Motor Spirit (MS) sales stood at 0.62mn tons, showing a 1% YoY increase and a 10% MoM growth from December 2024.

High-Speed Diesel (HSD) sales reached 0.6mn tons, rising by 17% YoY and 5% MoM.

Furnace Oil (FO) sales dropped significantly by 68% YoY, falling to 0.06mn tons, though showing a 40% MoM improvement.

In 7MFY25, MS and HSD grew 5% and 11% YoY, respectively, while FO declined 46% YoY, reinforcing the trend of diminishing furnace oil consumption in the country.

Company-wise Breakdown

Pakistan State Oil (PSO) maintained its market leadership with total sales of 0.6mn tons, down 10% YoY but up 3% MoM.

MS sales stood at 0.25mn tons down 11% YoY, while HSD sales were 0.26mn tons decreased 5% YoY.

FO sales dropped by 88% YoY.

Attock Petroleum Limited (APL) reported 0.13mn tons, reflecting a 14% YoY decline despite a 19% MoM increase.

MS sales were 0.05mn tons dropped 6% YoY, while HSD sales rose to 0.06mn tons up by 32% YoY. FO sales declined 77% YoY.

Shell Pakistan Limited (SHEL) achieved 0.10mn tons, reflecting a 4% YoY growth and a 7% MoM increase.

MS sales were 0.06mn tons down by 6% YoY, and HSD stood at 0.04mn tons up by 7% YoY.

Hascol Petroleum Limited (HASCOL) saw the highest YoY growth of 120%, reaching 0.05mn tons.

MS sales surged 68% YoY to 0.03mn tons, while HSD sales soared 193% YoY to 0.02mn tons.
