Pakistan, US kick off reciprocal tariff discussions virtually

May 30, 2025 (MLN): Pakistan’s formal negotiations on reciprocal tariffs with the US were initiated today through a telephonic/conference call between Muhammad Aurangzeb, Pakistan’s Finance Minister, and Ambassador Jamieson Greer, US Trade Representative.

The two sides exchanged viewpoints through constructive engagement, with the understanding that detailed technical-level discussions would follow in the coming weeks, said Khurram Schehzad, Advisor to the Finance Minister, in his tweet.

Both sides expressed confidence in advancing the negotiations toward a successful conclusion at the earliest.
