April  26, 2019: Pakistan will participate in 3-day SAARC chamber  77th Executive Committee and 23rd GA Meetings schedule to be held on May 2 in Kathmandu to materialize the vision of 2030 in regard of transforming SAARC chamber into one of the best chambers across the globe.

Talking to media on Friday, SAARC CCI Senior Vice President Iftikhar Ali Malik said policy guidelines and recommendations will be chalked out to give impetus to private sector for enhancing business cooperation in South Asian region,” says a press release issued here today.

“It will also facilitate the leadership to discuss the weaknesses and challenges facing SAARC and SAARC CCI and discuss a way forward,” adding he said the workshop will pave the way forward for executing vision 2018-2019 in an effective manner.

He said this mega event in Kathmandu would be attended by business delegates and ministers from Afghanistan, Bangladesh, Bhutan, India, Maldives, Nepal, Pakistan, and Sri Lanka.

Iftikhar Malik said social-political dialogues among the member states were indispensable for unleashing socio-economic potential of South Asia.

The government and private sector should join hands for integration of the region.

If all tangible steps were taken, only furniture market in the region would reach a colossal figure of $5.4 billion by 2020.

“Remedial measures may push the regional trade to as high as $170 billion within two years,” he added.

He said the rising disposable incomes, improving consumer lifestyles, and a significant increase in the GDPs largely supplement the growth of the market in the south Asian region.

The SAARC chamber leadership committed to carry out its six points agenda for an integrated, progressive and prosperous South Asia, he added.
