Pakistan to drive growth through digital connectivity: Ahsan Iqbal

February 18, 2025 (MLN): Pakistan has embraced digital connectivity as the core driver of its national development, Minister of Planning and Development Ahsan Iqbal stated in a ceremony in Islamabad.

The Minister outlined the government’s introduction of a five-Es framework, focusing on export-led growth, e-Pakistan, environment and climate change, energy and infrastructure, and equity and empowerment.

Ahsan Iqbal highlighted the importance of 5G technology, emphasizing that it is not only a faster internet but a catalyst for industrial, social, and economic transformation.

He cited a World Economic Forum estimate that 5G technology could add up to 13.2 trillion dollars to the global economy by 2030.

The Minister further stated that 5G technology will unlock vast opportunities across multiple sectors, including healthcare, education, transportation, agriculture, industry, and smart cities, according to the press release.

He also referred to the Memorandums of Understanding (MoUs) signed between the Pakistan Telecommunication Authority and the Malaysian Communication and Multimedia Commission last year, calling them a major milestone for telecommunication, digital innovation, and connectivity in Pakistan.
