Pakistan Sugar Association teams up with govt for sugar price stability

April 17, 2024 (MLN): The Pakistan Sugar Manufacturing Association has decided to collaborate with the government to develop a mechanism ensuring price stability for sugar before exporting surplus stock produced in the country.

This decision was made during the Sugar Advisory Board meeting chaired by Minister for Industries and Production, Rana Tanveer Hussain in Islamabad today.

In his remarks on the occasion, Rana Tanveer Hussain reiterated that an increase in sugar prices directly impacts the public at large.

According to the Minister, the government should first meet the local demand for sugar before considering export options to earn foreign exchange.

It was further decided that the provinces and PSMA would ensure a smooth supply of commodities in the domestic market and price stability till the start of the next crushing season.
