Index succumbed to pressure yet again today as political noise became too loud for investors. Markets at the end closed at 42290 points losing as many as 376.08 points. Today’s session marks fifth consecutive session closing in red, losing more than 1000 points during the last week. Index is currently trading at 2016 November’s lows.
There seems very little chance of market picking up any time soon as political headlines have at the fundamentals of the financial system’s performance in the current year. The political pressure is not anticipated to go away anytime soon, judgement on Ex-PM Nawaz Sharif’s indictment hearing is to take place on 2nd of October, 2017. With that in sight, the market will continue to be uncertain and directionless as investors will have sticky fingers from the judgement after last few verdicts given out by courts.
Latching on to positive price movement in the international markets, Fertilizer stocks [FFC (+2.40%), FFBL (+1.49%), EFERT (+1.12%) and FATIMA (+1.20%)] reported positive gains at day end after closing on bearish note in last session. MUREB (+5%), PTC (+1.51%), NCPL (+0.35%) and HCAR (+0.42%) were some other companies who rode against the wind in today’s session.
KSE-100 Index participation declined to 67.98 million shares down from 93.91 million shares yesterday (last session).
