Pakistan Stock Exchange gains 72.72 points

Index closed slightly up today after closing for consecutive five sessions in red. Up by a meagre 72 points, KSE-100 witnessed a very low key investor participation as political noise continues to take precedence. Ashura holidays, lack of triggers failed to entice local interest despite index witnessing a net buying position yesterday.

Oil Sector was star of the session today, with outlook for international oil prices looking relatively brighter, Pakistan Oilfields POL PA share price went up +3.6% by the day end, however PPL (+0.56%) and OGDC (+0.16) remained almost flat despite rise in international crude oil prices. Trading in the range bound region, volume and value were rather dull during the day.

Analysts expect the activity to remain subdued tomorrow, an investors await the monetary Policy statement expected to release tomorrow. State Bank Monetary Policy Committee is expected to announce Monetary Policy Statement tomorrow via a press release.

KSE-100 Index at the day end gained a total of 72.72 points up by 0.17%, closing at 42362.87 points. Index Volume was 60.04 million shares, value of shares traded was PKR 4.93 billion with index low-high range of 42195.098 – 42456.53.
