Pakistan, South Africa to boost defence cooperation

March 20, 2025 (MLN): Pakistan and South Africa aim to enhance defence ties by exploring opportunities for collaboration in training, technology exchange, and defence manufacturing.

This was expressed by Dr. Thobekile Gamede, Acting Secretary of Defence, who led a defence delegation from the Republic of South Africa and called on the Minister for Defence, Khawaja Muhammad Asif, in Islamabad.

The meeting outlined the significant potential for cooperation, particularly in the defence industrial sector, according to the press release issued.

The meeting focused on strengthening bilateral defence cooperation and exploring avenues for collaboration in various defence sectors.

She praised Pakistan's robust defence capabilities and noted the mutual benefits that can be derived from closer collaboration.

Defence Minister Khawaja Muhammad Asif reaffirmed Pakistan's commitment to furthering strong defence relations with South Africa.

He emphasized the importance of building on existing ties to promote peace, security, and stability.
