Pakistan ranks 127th across 128 countries on guaranteeing fundamental labor rights

December 10, 2020 (MLN): Pakistan has ranked 127th across 128 countries in the world on effectively guaranteeing fundamental labour rights, as per World Justice Project and Gallup & Gilani Pakistan.

The global survey results are based on sub-Factor 4.8 of the WJP Fundamental Rights Index which measures the effective enforcement of fundamental labor rights, including freedom of association and the right to collective bargaining, the absence of discrimination with respect to employment, and freedom from forced labor and child labor.

On this index, India and Bangladesh rank higher than Pakistan at 98 and 118 respectively, while China ranks 126 and Iran 128. On the global front, Denmark ranks 1st on this index, followed by UK at 41 and USA at 72.
