Pakistan, Oman agree on agricultural sector collaboration

March 13, 2025 (MLN): Pakistan and Oman agreed develop joint projects in agriculture to further strengthen economic ties between the two countries.

This decision was made during a meeting held at the Ministry of Agriculture in Muscat as part of Pakistan’s Federal Minister for Commerce, H.E. Jam Kamal Khan’s visit to Oman to boost bilateral cooperation in agriculture and food security.

He was warmly received by H.E. Saud bin Hamoud bin Ahmed Al Habsi, Oman’s Minister for Agriculture, Fisheries, and Water Resources.

During an extensive meeting with ministry officials, discussions centered on food security, Pakistan’s agricultural potential, and sustainable development initiatives.

Minister Jam Kamal Khan highlighted Pakistan’s expertise in agriculture and its innovative approaches to tackling food security challenges, according to the press release.

In response, Minister Al Habsi acknowledged Pakistan as a key source for meeting Oman’s food security needs and emphasized the importance of collaboration in strengthening the country’s food supply.

The meeting also explored opportunities for cooperation in marine and fisheries processing.

Oman extended an invitation to Pakistani agriculture and food processing companies to expand operations in the country, opening new avenues for investment.

This high-level engagement is expected to deepen agricultural ties, enhance trade opportunities, and contribute to long-term economic sustainability for both nations.
