Pakistan launches first 120KW EV fast-charging station

March 26, 2025 (MLN): Pakistan’s first-ever 120KW fast-charging station, developed by GoGreen Avenue, has been inaugurated by Minister for Power Sardar Awais Ahmad Khan Leghari.

Speaking at the ceremony in Islamabad, Minister Leghari reaffirmed the government’s commitment to clean energy and green mobility, emphasizing the importance of such initiatives in transforming the country’s energy and transportation sectors.

He highlighted that the launch of the fast-charging station is a crucial step in reducing carbon emissions and accelerating the adoption of electric vehicles (EVs) in Pakistan.

Announcing a major policy shift, the minister revealed a significant reduction in EV charging costs, bringing rates down from Rs71 to Rs39 per unit.

This move aims to make EVs more affordable and encourage wider adoption among consumers, according to the press release.

Leghari also acknowledged the collaboration between the public and private sectors in making this initiative a reality, stressing the vital role of private sector investments in advancing Pakistan’s sustainability goals.

Reiterating the government’s commitment to supporting green energy projects with environmental and economic benefits, the minister described the inauguration of the fast-charging station as a key milestone in building a sustainable energy infrastructure for the country.
