Pakistan, Iran sign MoU to boost communications cooperation

June 04, 2025 (MLN): Pakistan and Iran have signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) aimed at enhancing bilateral cooperation in the communications sector.

The agreement was signed by Iran’s Minister for Roads and Urban Development, Ms. Farzaneh Sadegh, and Pakistan’s Minister for Communications, Abdul Aleem Khan, during the ECO summit held in Tehran.

Both countries expressed their commitment to strengthening their longstanding relations, emphasizing the deep cultural, religious, and historical ties that bind the two neighbors.

Minister Abdul Aleem Khan underscored the commonalities in daily life and traditions shared by the peoples of Pakistan and Iran, according to the press release issued.

He also expressed confidence that the Economic Cooperation Organization (ECO) platform would bring fruitful outcomes for the entire region.

Meanwhile, Minister Farzaneh Sadegh reaffirmed Iran’s readiness to support Pakistan’s communications sector and advance joint bilateral projects.

In addition to the MoU signing, Minister Abdul Aleem Khan held separate meetings with the Transport Ministers of Kazakhstan, Turkmenistan, and Uzbekistan on the sidelines of the ECO summit.

These discussions focused on expanding mutual cooperation and exploring new departmental initiatives with each country.
