Pakistan imports from China clocks in at $1.5bn

August 19, 2024 (MLN): Among Pakistan’s top trading partners, China remained the top source of imports for Pakistan during July 2024, followed by U. A. E. Dubai, Saudi Arabia, and Indonesia.

According to the data released by the State Bank of Pakistan, the total imports from China during the period under review went up by 53.5% to $1.48 billion, as compared to $962.98 million recorded in the same month of last year.

This was followed by U. A. E. Dubai, as Pakistan imported goods worth $480.97m from the country as compared to the imports of $324.55m recorded during the same month of the previous year, depicting a rise of 48.2%.

Saudi Arabia was the third on the list as Pakistan imported products worth $358.71m from the country. This figure was up by 6.1% from the imports of $338.2m in the same period last year.

Indonesia was the fourth in line as imports came from the region during the aforementioned period were $248.99m, depicting an increase of 17.1% YoY.

Among other countries, Pakistan's imports from the Qatar stood at $247.37m, marking a rise of 33.6% YoY, while imports from Kuwait increased by 322.5% YoY to $223.5m.

Moreover, the imports from U. S. A. stood at $185.05m, up by 6.1% YoY.

On a monthly basis, the total imports from China increased by 8.9% MoM. Meanwhile, imports from U. A. E. Dubai dropped by 14.6% MoM.

Moreover, imports from Saudi Arabia depicted a decline of 9.5% MoM.
