Pakistan imports from China clocks in at $1.26bn in Sep

October 21, 2024 (MLN): Among Pakistan’s top trading partners, China remained the top source of imports for Pakistan during September 2024, followed by U. A. E. Dubai, Saudi Arabia, and Qatar.

According to the data released by the State Bank of Pakistan, the total imports from China during the period under review went up by 42.8% to $1.26 billion, as compared to $881.18 million recorded in the corresponding period of last year.

This was followed by U. A. E. Dubai, as Pakistan imported goods worth $567.74m from the country as compared to the imports of $394.97m recorded during the same month of the previous year, depicting a rise of 43.7%.

Saudi Arabia was the third on the list as Pakistan imported products worth $366.85m from the country. This figure was down by 29.2% from the imports of $518.38m in the same period last year.

Qatar was the fourth in line as imports from the region during the aforementioned period were $264.55m, depicting a decrease of 9.5% YoY.

Among other countries, Pakistan's imports from Indonesia stood at $210.53m, marking a rise of 38.3% YoY, while imports from U. S. A. increased by 55.5% YoY to $187.9m.

Moreover, the imports from Singapore stood at $175.75m, down by 1.5% YoY.

On a monthly basis, the total imports from China increased by 9%. Similarly, imports from U. A. E. Dubai increased by 24.8%.

Moreover, imports from Saudi Arabia depicted an increase of 8% MoM.

Meanwhile, cumulatively, in 3MFY25, China remained the top source of imports, recording $3.89bn as against the total imports worth $2.74bn in 3MFY24.

Whereas, total imports from U. A. E. Dubai in 3MFY25 stood at $1.5bn, registering an increase of 23.9%.

Cumulatively, Saudi Arabia ranked as the third-largest contributor to Pakistan's imports, accounting for imports valued at $1.07bn in 3MFY25, compared to the imports worth $1.14bn in the same period last year
