June 12, 2023 (MLN): Pakistan is facing electricity problems as the demand for power has surpassed the supply by a substantial margin of 5,300 megawatts (MW), which has resulted in prolonged and unscheduled load shedding in various cities.
Cities are reportedly facing eight hours of load shedding, while in Lahore, LESCO has reported a substantial shortfall of 393 MW, with the current capacity standing at 4263 MW, resulting in frequent power outages in different areas of Lahore.
LESCO announced two hours of power cuts for urban areas, and three hours of power suspension in rural areas.
However, urban residents have reported frequent blackouts of three to four hours, and rural residents have reported even longer power outages of up to five hours.
